A fire broke out in the Curling Bros. barbershop in Westlake, N.Y. in 1891. All the shaving tonics with their spearmint, lime, vanilla & lavender burned. A charred bottle was found half-full. It smelled like this.

Why we're addicted: Smoky lavender blends with warm and fresh spearmint in this unique and daring fragrance.

Notes:
Spearmint, Lime, Hemlock Spruce, Lavender Absolute, Tuberose, Turkish Rose, Burnt Oil, Vanilla, Hay.

Scent Story:
"Burning Barbershop is a fougere—a classic genre of usually men’s fragrances that use hay and vanillic notes with herbal lavender and the bitter green base of oakmoss. It is instantly recognizable on grandpas everywhere.

So you have the brightness of limes, cleanliness of lavender, joy of roses, zing of mint, and the sweetness of vanilla all cooked down into a rectified solid mass."
- D.S & Durga

D.S. & Durga make perfume and cologne in small batches using premium-sourced raw materials. All scents are created exclusively in-house. Some of their inspiration comes from outdated herbal wisdom, native ritual medicine, lore and legends, historical movements and Americana. The scents are the stories of prospectors, gentry, trailblazers, frontier women, drawing rooms, workbenches, cowboys – fragments of half-remembered legends, movements, events, and foreign lands.
